Big Game Hunting Safaris
Big Game hunting safaris are offered for 10, 16, 21 or 28 day hunts. Other safari durations are available and can be quoted separately. Big Game Safaris are sold as Safari Packages, with a single client hunting with one Professional Hunter, forming a1x1 combination and two clients with one Professional Hunter, forming a 2x1combination etc. We recommend that each client have their own Professional Hunter to improve their chances of success. Big Game hunting safari dates are 1July to 31 December each year.

NOTE:All Elephant-specific hunts are at regular Natron/Rungwa daily rates; no elephant available in Natron. Quotes for other safari durations are available upon request.
*2x1 and 4x2 Combination Hunts
Only one lion, one leopard, one gerenuk, one oryx, and one lesser kudu license is allowed under any 2x1 hunting combination or multiple thereof consisting of two clients hunting with one Professional Hunter.
**Companion Hunt(Only available for 1x1, 2x2 hunts)
Companion hunts allow two clients to share the game on a 10, 16, 21 or 28 day license normally set aside for one hunting client. Both clients share one Professional Hunter and will accompany each other on safari. Both clients have hunting licenses, allowing trophies to be exported separately. Example: total cost for a 10-day Rungwa 1x1 safari with a companion sharing the quota is $27,750 + $10,750 (companion fee) = $38,500, not including air charter or Trophy fees.

Trophy Fee Deposit per Hunter
A refundable deposit applicable towards your trophy fees is required before your departure to Tanzania. In the event that you do not collect the trophy animal you sought, the deposit will be refunded or applied towards additional trophies taken during your safari. The deposit required is as indicated on this chart.
Bird Hunting Safaris
Tanzania offers some of the finest bird hunting available in Africa today. Game birds on license include:
sandgrouse, francolin,spurfowl, guineafowl, doves, ducks, and geese. Three different bird hunting options are offered. Species and trophy fee lists are available on request.
1. Bird hunting with a bird license while on Big Game Safari- Maximum 50birds per license per day, but not more than ten of any particular species maybe hunted. A specific bird hunting license must be obtained in addition to your big game hunting license. The bird hunting license (up to 4 shooters per license) costs $200 per day, plus a $100 government gun fee per shooter per day. No bird hunting trophies fee applies if a bird license is obtained
2. Bird hunting while on Big Game Safari -Five of each species of game bird per license on your regular big game hunting license. A trophy fee of between $20and $30 applies to each bird hunted under this option.
3. Exclusive Bird hunting Safaris-We offer exclusive bird hunting safaris in a number of our hunting areas at the following rates. Safari is for a maximum of four clients per Professional Hunter per package and a maximum 50 birds per license per day but not more than ten of any particular species. The best time for wing shoots is October onwards.

All Charters quoted above are for a Cessna208. Maximum group size is 6(six) people including professional hunters. All departure and arrival times, routing,passengers, cargo and rates for air transfers are determined at the discretion of the charter service and are subject to change without advance notice. Not Included in Charter Cost: Departure Tax. For groups less than 3 people a Cessna 206 is available at lower rates. For groups larger than 8 people a Cessna 408 is available at higher rate, and will be quoted on a group by group basis.

Additional safari vehicles and guides are available and can be extremely useful for baiting.

Kitumbeine Adventure Hunts
Tanzania Wildlife Company Ltd. offers a unique opportunity for the adventurous client to hunt the massive trophy Buffalo, Leopard, and exceptionally large EA Bushbuck on the summit of Mount Kitumbeine,a 9,200 ft inactive volcanic crater in their Lake Natron South GCA. Each year only 3Buffalo hunts will be offered in this northern Maasailand area, and are usually run in conjunction with a 21-day leopard and EA plains game safari. If quota for EA plains game is sold-out, the hunt can either be run as 2-area safari between the Selous and Natron, or as a 16-dayLeopard/Buffalo safari on Kitumbeine, plus general plains game animals. Clients are transported by vehicle to a luxury fly camp near the top of the mountain. Access into and hunting in the mountain crater and surrounding slopes is on foot.
Safari Rates Include
- 10,16, 21 or 28 days of hunting plus full travel days to and from your hunting area.
- Government conservation fees, hunting licenses, area/block fees, and local taxes. Government rates may be subject to change.
- Archery hunters –Government licenses and wildlife conservation fees are double. Please add the + amount listed for additional cost to safari; this rate includes import permits for two bows.
- All camp accommodations during the safari
- Professional Hunter(s) services
- Trained safari staff services
- One4-wheel drive vehicle with each Professional Hunter, equipped with satellite communications, winch, refrigerator, medical bag and a comprehensive set of tools and spares.
- Provision of all camp equipment to the highest standard
- Finest quality locally available foods, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages
- Import permits for two firearms per hunter and 200 rounds of ammunition per firearm
- Field preparation of trophies (skinning and salting) and transfer to Arusha
- Dipping,processing, crating, packing, export documentation for trophies and transportation to the airport ready for export
- Comprehensive first-aid kits in each camp, and complimentary membership in local medical air-evacuation program.
Safari Rates Do Not Include
- Government Game Trophy Fees & Tembo Foundation Ltd., Conservation Anti-poaching and Community Conservation/Development fees (See Trophy Fees and Species Availability list). Archery hunters –government game trophy fees are double. Please ask for detailed prices for archery-hunted trophies. If animals are taken with rifle during archery hunt, regular trophy fees apply.
- Elephant upgrade Fee: all elephant-specific safaris are at regular Natron/Rungwa rate.Any elephant taken during a 21 or 28-day reduced-rate Selous safari requires an upgrade fee of $4,935 or $6,580 respectively, or at a rate equal to the difference between regular and reduced rates. This upgrade fee is in addition to the Trophy Fee.
- Leopard downgrade fee: clients wishing to hunt leopard on a 16-day safari are required to pay a license downgrade fee of approximately $50 per client per day. Leopard hunts require a 21-day license.
- Final Government imposed licenses, trophy fees, area fees, or other. These rates maybe subject to change without advance notification.
- Air transport to and from Tanzania.
- Air transfers or private charters within Tanzania (See Air Transfer Rates). Charter rates are per plane.
- Air transfers or commercial airfare for requested Professional Hunter area change.
- Freight charges for trophies and personal belongings from Tanzania to country of final destination.
- Hotel expenses in Dar es Salaam or Arusha before and after the safari, approximately$250 per person per night.
- Champagne and specially requested imported food and drink.
- Visa sand airport departure taxes, CITES or other required import permits for African Leopard & Elephant.
- Transfer fees from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam or Arusha.
- Firearms clearing, meet and greet and ground transfers in Nairobi
- Gratuities/tips for staff – typically 10-20% of daily rate;preferred form of tip is in USD Cash.
- Firearms rental and cost of ammunition, and additional import permits for maximum of 3rifles per client.
- Satellite phone and satellite email usage; charges are per minute and per Kb/Mb sent or received.

The prices shown above are those most recently released by the Tanzanian Government as of December 22, 2007, and are expected to be the same for 2009.
**Elephant taken on reduced-rate safaris require an upgrade fee to full regular Rungwa daily rate, plus Total Trophy fee.
Firearm/Archery and Ammunition Import
Each hunting client may import a maximum of three firearms. We recommend one large caliber, one medium caliber and one shotgun (for bird hunters). The maximum amount of ammunition allowed is 200 rounds per caliber/firearm. We suggest 60rounds for a heavy rifle and 100 rounds for a medium rifle. Restrictions Per Tanzanian law -Automatic weapons and handguns are PROHIBITED.The minimum caliber for lion, buffalo and elephant is .375, and .240 on all other game. Some medium caliber solid ammunition is useful for hunting the smaller antelope species such as dik dik and duiker. ARCHERY hunters may import up to three bows and unlimited number of arrows. We recommend bringing at least two bows on safari.
Firearm Rental
For those clients who wish to leave their personal firearms at home, we do offer rental of our well-maintained, quality camp firearms for a fee of $200 per rifle, per week, or $30 per shotgun per day,plus market cost of ammunition. Each camp is equipped with the following firearms:
- .375 H&H Rifle (modern claw extractor), 3-9 power scope
- .416 Rigby Rifle, open sight
- .300 Winchester Mag Rifle, 3-9 power scope(one available upon request)
- Beretta Over-under Sporting shotguns are available in 20 and 12 gauges
Payment of Fees
- A deposit of 50% of the total daily rate is required to confirm a booking if the safari is within 365 days of commencement.
- Full payment for your safari must be received 90 days prior to the start of your safari. If you arrive in Tanzania without having paid in full, you will not be permitted to start your safari.
- A final invoice detailing all safari expenses, payments to-date and final charges will be provided to the client or booking agent by Tanzania Adventures, Inc.,within thirty (30) days of the end of the Client’s safari.
- Trophies are shipped only after full payment for safari or other pre-shipment costs have been received.
- Daily Outfitting Charges and Government Game & Area Fees are non-refundable. See Terms & Conditions section of the brochure for details.
- All Tanzania Government Fees are subject to change without notice. Any additional taxes, fees, licenses, trophy fees or other charges imposed by the Tanzanian Government are the responsibility of the client.
- Game Trophy Fees actually charged will be those applicable to the year the safari is taken regardless of what is quoted on initial invoices. Invoices and quotes are subject to change based on any change in Government Fees and/or Game Trophy Fees. In the event that you do no collect an animal which you sought while on safari, no trophy fee will apply and any unused deposit paid towards game trophy fees will be applied to the final balance of the Client’s safari, or refunded after the completion of the Client’s safari.
- Should you travel via Nairobi,Kenya, other charges may apply such as firearm clearing, local ground transportation, hotel accommodations and additional air charter cost.
- Clients wishing to hunt leopard on safaris less than 21 days will have to pay a 21 day downgrade fee. Clients who shoot elephant while hunting in Selous at discount rate must pay an upgrade fee to full Rungwa daily rates, plus trophy fee.
Personal Property
Tanzania Adventures Inc. and associated outfitters are not responsible for your personal belongings. The outfitter has a safe in Arusha, and we recommend that anything of value be locked in the safe while you are on safari.
Wildlife Management
The Outfitter, Tanzania Wildlife Company Ltd. (TWC), together with the Tanzania Wildlife Department is responsible for the sustainable off-take of trophy animals. They have an obligation to protect, monitor and manage our wildlife resources and habitat. This responsibility extends to you,the hunter. Quotas are determined annually, and provided all hunt wisely, the quality of trophies can be maintained and in some cases the quality of trophy animals in the hunting blocks can be improved.
Quota
The hunting of trophies is subject to quota availability. We cannot guarantee that you will be able to hunt all your requested trophies in each area allocated for your safari. Tanzania is a country in which hunting concessions and wildlife areas are unfenced and game is free to move throughout the country. As such, we do not offer guarantees that you will collect any given species during your safari. We strive to provide you with a reasonable opportunity to hunt your desired species within our hunting concessions.
